Why We Do This:

The Heart Behind Board Bound

Every story deserves to be heard with dignity and heart.

We know that behind every parole packet is a person with a story — someone who has worked hard to grow, reflect, and move forward. We believe that every person deserves the chance to present that story with dignity, authenticity, and strength.

At Board Bound, LLC, we specialize in helping clients present their strongest case to the Parole Board — highlighting personal growth and readiness for release, while honoring each client’s unique voice and journey.

We partner closely with clients and attorneys to ensure every packet is thoughtfully prepared and powerfully presented.

Drawing from experience, insight, and compassion, we’ll guide you through every step of the process and help ensure your voice comes through in the strongest way possible.

Our goal is simple: to help you build a powerful packet that speaks truthfully to who you are today — not just where you’ve been. We bring proven expertise in packet development: a deep understanding of Board expectations, and a sharp eye for effective presentation strategies.

Why Board Bound Exists: Closing the Gap in Parole Preparation

Board Bound, LLC was founded to bridge a critical gap in parole preparation: the need for meaningful, ongoing support between the time an attorney is hired and the hearing itself. Too often, after the hard work of securing legal representation, clients are left navigating the bulk of preparation alone. Many attorneys have limited capacity to engage deeply with clients before the hearing — despite clients’ deep need for connection, guidance, and accountability as they ready themselves to appear before the Board. Board Bound was created to meet that need with care and integrity.

Founder Alesha Monteiro brings years of experience spearheading and continuing to lead the Parole Board Project — an initiative of Just Advocate, Inc., dedicated to researching systemic issues within the California Board of Parole Hearings. The project is a formal partnership with Prison From the Inside Out (FTIO), combining organizational resources and research capacity to conduct in-depth analysis of CA parole board transcripts and trends. Through this collaborative effort, ongoing university partnerships, and a commitment to legislative and policy change, Alesha has developed an unparalleled understanding of Board dynamics, barriers to release, and effective preparation strategies. That insight directly informs the individualized, strategic support offered through Board Bound.

Ready to get started? Let’s build a packet that reflects growth, strength, and the whole story — together.

Board Bound, LLC is an independent, for-profit business; insights from Alesha’s leadership of the Parole Board Project (a nonprofit initiative) inform her consulting work, with all operations kept fully separate.
