Frequently Asked Questions

  • Board Bound is not a replacement for legal representation — it is a complement to it. Board Bound provides one-on-one consulting and preparation support, helping clients develop strong parole board packets and practice articulating their insight, growth, and readiness. Board Bound actively collaborates with attorneys when possible to create a fully aligned preparation process.

  • BoardBound works with individuals preparing for parole board hearings in California, including those with paid attorneys, appointed counsel, or self-represented clients. Each client's preparation plan is tailored to their specific needs and situations. We also work with individuals preparing for resentencing hearings, ensuring their support materials are equally compelling and customized for the judge’s review.

  • Board Bound maintains a deliberately limited caseload to ensure meaningful, ongoing support. Clients typically meet 1:1 with Board Bound multiple times per month leading up to the hearing — with flexibility depending on where they are in the preparation process and what they need most.

  • Yes — with the client’s express permission, Board Bound is happy to engage with family members or members of the client’s support network to strengthen the preparation process and ensure alignment in support letters and packet content.

  • No. While we work tirelessly to help our clients present their strongest, most authentic selves—through personalized packets, writing support, and strategic planning—we cannot guarantee outcomes. Parole board decisions and resentencing rulings depend on a variety of factors outside of our control. What we do promise is to walk with you every step of the way, with integrity, transparency, and commitment to your preparation.
